Sandi came to Medbury from the Advisory Service and prior to that she taught at St Martins Primary School. She holds a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning and a Higher Diploma of Teaching, endorsed in Art Education, and is passionate about the Arts.

April Holland

April Holland

Director of Music

April joined the Medbury Team after teaching classroom and extra-curricula music at Halswell School. She holds a Diploma in Jazz from the Christchurch Polytechnic Jazz School and a Diploma in Teaching from the New Zealand Graduate School of Education. April is also a vocal tutor at Voices Co- Pop Acapella Academy, a member of their Adult Squad and a member of the All Girl Big Band where she plays the trumpet. April has also taught previously as an itinerant piano teacher and also a private trumpet tutor.

Brad Gilbert

Brad Gilbert

Director of Sport and Physical Education

Brad has a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Physical Education from the University of Canterbury. Brad started working at Medbury in 2015 and it is his first teaching job since graduating. Brad is a keen sports enthusiast and has coached rugby and cricket at many different levels prior to commencing teaching at Medbury.

John Ogston

Years 1 to 6 Physical Education Teacher

John joined the teaching staff at Medbury in January 2018, having taught previously at Russley School. John has also taught English at Marlborough Boys' College where he was a senior boarding house supervisor. John holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching from the University of Canterbury and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Teaching from the Graduate School of Education. He enjoys a range of sports, reading and pottering in the garden. John can often be found out on the sports field in his role as Cricket Co-ordinator at Medbury.

Kerri Fitzgerald

Head of Drama

Kerri returned to teach at Medbury in 2014 after working abroad as the Arts and Activities Director at International School Bangkok. She has always worked in education specialising in the Performing Arts and literacy, and was Director of Theatre Arts at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School for thirteen years. Kerri has also been an Arts Advisor at the University of Canterbury.

Jess Acheson

Drama teacher

Jess is an experienced Drama and Dance teacher, who has returned to Christchurch, having been the Head of Drama at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland. She holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts majoring in Acting from NASDA, a Graduate Certificate in Arts from Massey University and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching from the University of Waikato.

With over 30 years teaching experience, Warren has enjoyed his time at Medbury since joining in 2002 as a specialist in ICT, and as a class teacher. Warren has a Bachelor of Education and Diploma in Primary Teaching.

Jo Keleghan

Middle and Senior School Mathematics Teacher and Librarian

Jo holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. She began her career as a High School physics teacher and has taught in the UK and New Zealand. Jo joined Medbury in 2008 as a reliever and joined the permanent teaching staff in 2013.

Jan has been involved in education for over 35 years and has a lot of experience working with senior students at intermediate schools. He holds a Bachelor of Education and has recently completed a Master of Science with First Class Honours in Zoology. Jan has taught Science at Medbury since 2008.

Mandy Kelly

Science Teacher

Mandy began working at Medbury in 2018 as a relief teacher covering a range of classes. Previous to this Mandy lived in Australia, where she was a teacher at public and private schools for over 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Interior Architecture, and a Graduate Diploma in Education. Mandy enjoys travelling and exploring the natural wonders of the world.

Pouako Maori

Maaka’s desire to provide Medbury with an informed perspective of Te Reo me ona tikanga Maori (Maori language and culture) brings a wider understanding to both students and staff alike. Maaka holds an Honours degree, Teaching Diploma, and a certificate in supervisory management. Maaka’s interests are in whakawhanaungatanga me matauranga-a-tikanga (relationship building and studying cultures).

Counsellor

Jenelle is a Registered Member with NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors). Prior to Counselling, Jenelle taught Classical Studies and History for 15 years at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School and Burnside High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Hons) from Otago University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) from the New Zealand Graduate School of Education and a Master of Counselling (with Distinction) from the University of Canterbury.

Richard Wilson

Richard Wilson

Director of Leadership and STEM

Following a career in the British armed forces, Richard moved to New Zealand and had a second career in the printing industry. He holds both a bachelor of science (with honours) and a master of science. More recently, he has acted as caregiver, and has worked in various teacher aide and reader/writer roles in Christchurch Boys’ High School, Medbury and at Christ’s College.
